A DRIVER raced down a Govanhill street before crashing into another vehicle and fleeing the scene, according to eyewitnesses.

Pictures from Calder Street in the South Side of Glasgow show a seriously damaged black car.

Just down the road, a silver BMW car can be seen having mounted the pavement following the incident.

It's thought the driver of the BMW then fled the scene.

No-one is thought to be injured in the crash.

Police were called to the incident and reportedly arrived within a very short period of time.

An eyewitness said: "I was coming back from the shop and the guy was racing down Annette Street going to South Anadale Street and skelpt the car.

"It was so horrible."

She added: "The guy didn't even stop to check for traffic, poor guy that got hit.

"Thank god no-one was hurt, it could of been so much worse - anyone could have been walking on the pavement".

A force spokeswoman said: "Police were called around 12.50pm on Tuesday, April 8, 2020, following reports of a two vehicle road crash on Calder Street, Govanhill. 

"There were no reported injuries and enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the crash."
