Moira Roberts, manager of Newark care Home in Port Glasgow, works full-time along with other dedicated staff members to brighten up moods and provide round-the-clock care for elderly patients.

Norman ‘Norrie’ Johnstone, a friend of over 20 years, said:

“Moira treats the residents as if they were her own family and makes sure that they get the best care.

“She works very hard and is a highly respected member of the community.”

The Herald:

Between bringing up her three kids, Andrew, Caroline and Heather, on her own, Moira qualified as a nurse and has worked in various care homes throughout her life.

She joined Newark Care Home around 10 years ago as an agency nurse and immediately fell in love with the friendliness and warmth of the home.

Moira has been Deputy Manager at the home and was promoted to home manager four years ago.

Despite being the manager of Newark Care Home, Moira is not afraid to put her uniform back on and muck in.

If the care home is short of staff, Moira will work night and day just to give someone else a rest and ensure the residents are well looked after.

During the pandemic, Moira has also brightened moods by providing in-house activities such as bingo and quizzes for the residents.

Highly regarded by the social services for her care, Moira works hard to ensure the home is well-maintained and is full of positivity.

Before the lockdown, Moira converted a storeroom into a family room, a café and a bar to provide residents with a ‘going out’ atmosphere within the home.

Moira said: “I love my job within Newark. I can’t hide my passion for what I do. Newark is a real home with a lovely atmosphere and all of the staff have hearts of gold and are the kindest people I believe I have ever met.”
