Thieves have heartlessly stolen toiletries meant for Covid-19 patients from a car in Hamilton on Monday morning.

The supplies were intended for a drop off at Uddingston Hospital in South Lanarkshire

The thugs broke into Mick McCann's car in the early morning and Mick took to Facebook to express his shock.

Sharing the post in a Blantyre Covid-19 community group, he wrote: "This was my car this morning. Why would anyone do this?

"They stole toiletries that were going to the hospital this morning."

In a Facebook video posted later in the day, Mick said: "I am disappointed more than anything.

"They stole soap, deodorant, case of ginger, it was all stuff that was actually going to Uddingston hospital this morning.

"I am fine, it is only a car. I am disappointed more than anything."

Glasgow Times:

The items were later traced by officers and were returned to Mick.

However, social media users expressed shock after the post was shared in a local Blantyre community group.

One commenter said: "No words can express how I am feeling at this point, plus could not repeat the words that I am feeling. Shame on them."

Another added: "So sorry Mick, that's absolutely disgusting."

"The items were recovered and enquiries are ongoing."
