A MAN is accused of intent to rape a woman in his flat.

Robert Reid, 58, allegedly assaulted the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, in Glasgow’s Cambuslang area in July 2018.

Reid is said to have pinned the woman on his couch before lying on top of her and threatening violence.

He is then alleged to have pulled down the woman’s trousers and underwear as well as lifted up her clothing.

Prosecutors claim Reid put his hand over the woman’s mouth before committing a sexual assault.

They then state that Reid carried out the assault “with intent to rape her.”

A hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court was postponed today and the case was dealt with administratively due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Reid has made no plea and a new hearing date is set for July this year.

He remains on bail meantime at his address
