THE Gate swings back open July 17, and they’ve lined up a fun mix of events that will include monthly cocktail sessions, starting with a history of gin in four cocktails, and a new “Turbo Quiz” every Wednesday hosted by game-show veteran Cammy Shaw, who has created the ultimate pub quiz crammed into a two-hour session. You can book into one of their three sessions, every Wednesday evening.

Sunday afternoons will now be home to Brunch Bingo, a fun take on the classic game with fancy brunch baps, Bloody Marys, frozen margaritas and effervescent mimosas. Entry is £10 and includes two games of bingo and your choice of a classic brunch drink on arrival.

They will also be launching their new concept “Dark Kitchen” - a five-week kitchen takeover that will take place every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. They have brought together some of Scotland’s best chefs to create their own take on street food, such as bao buns and homemade tacos. Bookings are online now and their first guest chef will be revealed on their social media this weekend.

The team will also still be offering up their bespoke click-and-collect or delivery “Create My Cocktail” online service for any guests that don’t want to leave their homes just yet. Their takeaway offering has proved to have been a hit with guests who want that cocktail experience at home.

In their bar, The Gate will comply with all government guidelines with extra safety measures in place to ensure every guest feels comfortable and safe when they book a table at The Gate.

Andy Gemmell, owner of The Gate, said: “Bizarrely, the lift in lockdown coincides with our first birthday so we want to open back up with a series of events that celebrate what we have become known for ... collaborations with amazing chefs, great drinks and some proper Glaswegian hospitality.

“We wanted to create a sanctuary for our guests returning to The Gate and ramp up the experience when you walk through the door. With moving to two-hour slots, we wanted to ensure that every guest has the full Gate experience and leaves with a smile on their face.”

Bookings for all their events and takeovers are now live from thegateglasgow.com
