A MAN who terrified a shop assistant with his bizarre chat about his scars before showing her a knife was jailed for 17 months.

Creepy David Cole, 43, went into Usave convenience store in Riddrie and asked the 49-year-old shop worker : “Do I make you feel shaky?”

She told Cole she was tired. But instead of paying for his messages and going Cole began talking about scars on his body

Prosecutor Mark Allan told Glasgow Sheriff court the woman became “uneasy” due to the conversation.

Mr Allan said: “Cole then stated ‘That’s why I carry a blade’ and nodded in the direction of his left arm.”

The frightened woman saw that he had a knife hidden under his T-shirt. She was so concerned that she dialled 999.

He was seen by police who spotted him in Warriston Street trying to hide the knife which had a six-and-a-half-inch blade between two bins

He pleaded guilty on Thursday to the unlawful possession of a knife in a public place in May.

Lawyer Ian McClelland, defending, told the court that it was a “bizarre incident” and Cole was out on early release from prison at the time.

Sheriff Joan Kerr told “It must have been frightening for the woman in the shop to see you with that item.”

She jailed Cole for eight months and also ordered him to complete the remaining unserved nine months of his previous sentence.
