ABERDEEN four-piece showcase their sinful side as they unveil their Seven Deadly Tunes.

The Granite City band – made up of Kyle McDonald, Lloyd McDonald, Greg Adams and Brett Thain – are on a high following the release of their latest single Electrify.

A series of hometown shows and a UK tour were on the cards before the Covid-19 outbreak, but the lads will be ones to keep an eye for the rest of the year and into 2021.

SLOTH – What tune makes you want to sit back and do nothing forever?

Kyle: For me, I dig I’m Only Sleeping by The Beatles...it’s a lazy song for a lazy day.

Lloyd: Haim’s cover of Cause I’m A Man by Tame Impala. Just think cause the key has changed and the vocals. Does something to me and I can just chill out.

Greg: The Twang - Either Way. Been listening to this song for years. Maybe one of my all-time favourites. I’ve got so many amazing memories with it & always brings me back when it’s on.

Brett: OutKast - Prototype. Such a floaty chill song. Makes me want to sit and get stoned and do nothing for a season.

WRATH – What tune makes you want to absolutely wreck the hoose?

Kyle: I love the cover The Last Shadow Puppets did of Totally Wired by The Fall! Slightly faster pace and Miles Kane kills the vocals!

Lloyd: Probably Rock n Roll star by Oasis. Had the pleasure of seeing Liam Gallagher and Oasis play this live and it’s a great opener.

Greg: Oasis – Rock n Roll star. Anytime it comes on it just makes me wanna get out and play a f****** mad gig with the band. The arrogance of the song as well, just puts you in that frame of mind.

Brett: Kasabian – Stuntman. Easy choice, the drums in it are f****** massive and makes you want to go mental. Listening to it now fills you up with uncontrollable urge to jump.

LUST – What tune do you NEED in your life right now?

Kyle: I’ve been loving a bit of Footsteps in The Dark, Part 1 & 2, by The Isley Brothers! People will recognise it from Ice Cube’s It Was A Good Day.

Lloyd: Hourglass by Catfish & the Bottlemen. Reminds me of my girlfriend and she has just left to go work 133 miles away until Xmas.

Greg: Declan Welsh and the Decadent West – Times. “Shazamed” this song not long ago... Was just something about the lyrics and melody & haven’t stopped playing it recently. There’s a live video of them which explains the story behind it too which makes me love it more.

Brett: I don’t listen to recent music at the moment, but I would say Tame Impala – Borderline. It’s a catchy song; it’s something different.

GLUTTONY – What tune can you not get enough of?

Kyle: Mind Mischief by Tame Impala. To be honest, anything off that album. It throws me back to a summertime and being happy with friends and family.

Lloyd: Wouldn’t It Be Nice - The Beach Boys. It’s such a happy sounding song that lifts my spirits regardless my mood!

Greg: Catfish & the Bottlemen – Twice. Could literally listen to this song on repeat all day. Just love it. Especially the outro when it slows down. Always puts me in great mood.

Brett: Timo Maas – To Get Down. A bit of a curve ball on this one. I’m not into DJ music but Timo Maas is something of a genius with this one. It’s got such an old early millennial aurora vibe.

GREED – What tune makes you want to hear more and more from that band?

Kyle: Diving back to the Indie Days, I loved Little Man Tate. European Lover was a track and a half! They split up a while back but they’re out again touring!

Lloyd: Keep on Pretending - Alligator Moon. Just discovered this band and when I heard this song, I knew I wanted more. Looking forward to future releases from this band.

Greg: Blossoms – There’s a Reason Why. I love this tune. Reminds me of driving in the van with my band mates touring. Always end up queuing a heap of their songs after listening.

Brett: Tom Waits – Hold On. Tom Waits is 70 years old and his last album was in 2011. I’m heavily influenced by his work and I need more from him before we never get the chance to again.

PRIDE – What tune are you most proud to have written?

Kyle: Hard to narrow down the songs to a particular lyric or song...I still am proud of the line, “...you’re the devil with Cupid’s Bow, you shot me once and I can’t let go...” in Yours, Now, Forever.

Lloyd: Under the Moonlight 100 per cent. I challenged myself to write a different sounding style for the band. The strings really drive this song but, so far, it’s the only song to have strings in it.

Greg: What are These Kisses? Obviously, I’m most proud of the drumming in this tune because I get to show off a bit throughout it. It’s a song that doesn’t get enough love!

Brett: Electrify, I know it’s our latest single but I’m incredible proud of the effort we put into that song. The breakdown (bridge) is my favourite. It dips the toes into what’s coming next!

ENVY – What tune/chorus/verse/solo/lyric do you wish you had written?

Kyle: Out of any song in the world...probably a Beatles one...probably Across the Universe. I think the lyrics are stunning.

Lloyd: Literally anything by The Last Shadow Puppets! Lyrically, genius. Musically, genius. The whole mood from both albums is sublime to me.

Greg: The Killers - All These Things That I’ve Done. Love everything about it. Lyrics, melody, chorus. Brings me back to T in the Park which was one of the best times of my life.

Brett: Tom Waits - The Earth Died Screaming. The song sounds like Tom Waits is playing with skeleton bones and it’s literally him smashing planks of wood together! The album is littered with everyday objects used to portray sounds from a horror film. Blows my mind!
