Dozens of trains have been cancelled on two major Glasgow railway lines.

Commuters are facing a difficult evening after rail bosses confirmed engineers are carrying out a safety inspection on the track between Partick, Charing Cross and Exhibition Centre.

It has caused multiple trains to be cancelled between Glasgow Queen Street/Glasgow Central and Partick.

The line connects commuters to Balloch, Helensburgh Central and Dalmiur via Anniesland, Milngavie and Yoker.

It is not yet known when trains will resume normal service, but ScotRail says the line will be disrupted until the inspection has been carried out.

ScotRail have confirmed they are unable to provide bus replacements for displaced customers, and advised those affected should consider making their own alternative arrangements.

Tickets are currently being accepted on the subway service between Partick and Buchanan Street/St Enoch.

All Airdrie to Balloch services have been cancelled until at least 6.30pm, with Balloch to Airdrie services terminating at Anniesland.

Some services between Dalmuir and Larkhall have been cancelled, with many starting from Anderston instead of Dalmuir.

Motherwell to Dalmuir services will be terminated at Anderston, and will no longer call at Exhibition Centre, Partick, Hyndland, Jordanhill, Scotstounhill, Garscadden, Yoker, Clydebank and Dalmuir.

Services between Dalmuir and Whifflet will either be cancelled or start/terminate at Anderston.

Services between Dumbarton Central and Springburn have all been cancelled.
