A MOTORCYCLIST was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash near Beith on Saturday.

The smash between a motorcycle and a car took place on the A737 Bypass Road at the junction with the B777 around 5.30pm (September 26).

A Grey Mini Cooper travelling east on Head Street collided with a black Yamaha motorcycle.

A 52-year-old male driver of the motorcycle was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow by ambulance with serious injuries.

The female driver of the Mini was not injured.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the serious two-vehicle crash.

Sergeant Ian Thornton of Ayrshire Road Policing Unit said: “We are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the crash to get in touch.

“We are also asking anyone who saw either vehicle prior to the crash or anyone with dashcam footage or any other information which may assist to come forward.”
