WE'RE one week in to the 16-day enhanced lockdown measures for Glasgow - and the rammy over what constitutes a cafe seems to have died down.

But while the majority of restaurants were told they must close, there is a loophole that allows some to continue operating as before as long as they close by 6pm.

Glasgow City Council has allowed unlicensed restaurants to continue to serve sit down meals.

And, while some have closed entirely or are only serving takeaway, many have grabbed the opportunity to keep feeding their loyal customers.

A spokeswoman for the council said: “Our environmental health team has been advising and visiting establishments across the city in line with the updated Scottish Government restrictions for the city.

"In basic terms it means that if they are licensed to sell alcohol, they should be closed unless they are a café.

"And if establishments are not licensed, they are allowed to trade.”

We've drawn up a list of some on the establishment around the city where you can have the full restaurant experience if cafe culture isn't quite cutting it.
