Thugs broke into a South Lanarkshire church and smashed a religious statue on Friday.
Cops launched an investigation into the theft and vandalism in St John Ogilvie's Church in Blantyre.
The vandals made off empty-handed but left a statue of Saint Anthony toppled and in pieces.
Hundreds reacted to the post shared by St Joseph's Parish, Blantyre showing the statue lying on the floor.

The post read: "Regrettably we had intruders at St John Ogilvie’s Church last night. Thankfully there was nothing of value to take. The main damage was the statue of St Anthony has been toppled and destroyed.”
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 8.05am on Saturday, 28 November, officers were called to a report of a theft and vandalism at St John Ogilvie Church on Broompark Road, Blantyre.
"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should contact 101 quoting reference number 0832 of 28 November."
