NEW mum Simone Ogden has relived the dramatic, speedy arrival of baby Theo.

The little one was born on New Year’s Eve and delivered naturally and unexpectedly at Colchester Hospital.

The plan had been for him to arrive by Caesarian section as he was breech.

However, Mrs Ogden’s waters broke on the way to the operating theatre.

Her contractions began and, after getting back into bed, Theo arrived 11 minutes later, weighing 5lb 12oz.

Mrs Ogden, who lives in Victoria Gardens, Colchester, first went into hospital to be induced on December 29 but unfortunately nothing worked.

She said: “Two days later, a doctor examined me to see why the induction process had failed and an ultrasound found he had turned breech during my time in the hospital.

“I was told I could no longer birth naturally and would be booked for a C-section that afternoon.

“I was taken down to a delivery suite in the afternoon to prepare, signed the C-section paperwork, had my cannula fitted and was awaiting the anaesthetist to have the epidural fitted for surgery.

“My husband was given his clothes for theatre and was just about to be wheeled out down to theatre.

“Then my waters randomly broke and my contractions started instantly.

“I told my midwife I felt I needed to push so she checked me over and I’d actually already birthed the foot.

“I was told C-section was cancelled, got back onto the bed and gave birth 11 minutes later.”

Mrs Ogden, 32, is deputy manager of the Nanna’s Day Nursery in Hawthorn Avenue, on the Greenstead estate in Colchester.

Little Theo is a first baby for her and husband, Liam.

She said: “I’d like to say a massive thank you to the midwives and doctors that helped me unexpectedly deliver safely.

“My little man did not want to wait.”
