ACTOR and singer Dana Gillespie has offered a glimpse into the heady world she inhabited in the 1960s and 1970s – when she was rubbing shoulders with Bob Dylan and David Bowie, survived an avalanche and starred in Jesus Christ Superstar.
Speaking to The Herald Magazine as she prepares to publish her memoir Weren’t Born a Man, Gillespie talked of her long musical career and her relationships.

“I’ve never really been one who was very comfortable on the arm of somebody very famous,” she said. “And I never really met anybody I wanted to marry. I was very independent. I had loads of affairs, but not ones that made me want to change my name. I never wanted children. I’d rather be in the studio . I’d rather be writing songs. I’ve done that since the age of 11.”
