RUTH Davidson never misses an opportunity to run down the achievements of the government, the services and people of her country.

Last week – when she should have been congratulating the Scottish Government on its achievement by finding the means of vaccinating care home residents first with the available vaccine, instead of waiting for another to become available – she was lauding the vaccination rate in England that had been achieved by ignoring the legally binding Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation priority list.

Surely care homes in England are much the same as in Scotland, so why did her party in charge of vaccination in England not follow Scotland’s example, contact Pfizer and get on with vaccinating its most vulnerable at-risk people? Was it due to incompetence, ignorance or indifference?
