GEORGI KABAKOV, who oversaw Celtic’s qualification for the Europa League group stage in 2018, will take charge of Rangers’ clash with Antwerp on Thursday. 

The Bulgarian whistler was the man in the middle as Brendan Rodgers’ outfit swept aside FK Suduva 3-0 courtesy of goals from Callum McGregor, Leigh Griffiths and Kristoffer Ajer, securing a 4-1 aggregate triumph. 

The victory went some way to easing the Hoops’ pain after they had dropped into the continent's second-tier competition due to being knocked out of Champions League qualifying by AEK Athens.

And the eyes of the other half of Glasgow will be on Kabakov when the Gers take to the field at the Bosuilstadion in the first leg of their Europa League last-32 showdown. 

Kabakov, 35, is no stranger to high profile occasions, having overseen Real Madrid’s 2-2 draw against Club Brugge at the Bernabeu — sending off Ruud Vormer for the Belgians — and Tottenham’s 4-2 win against Olympiakos in London last term.
