British Airways since revealed this was due to a medical issue with one of the members of cabin staff.
The plane landed safely in Manchester.
A British Airways spokesperson said: "The flight diverted to Manchester as a precaution due to an unwell cabin crew member on board.
"The aircraft landed safely. We are sorry for the inconvenience to our customers."
