AN ELDERLY woman has died in a crash on a major Scots road.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information surrounding the crash which occurred at around 7.10pm on the A9 near Grangemouth.

The 77-year-old pensioner was driving an orange Toyota Aygo on Tuesday evening when it collided with a black Audi A5.

Police, fire, and ambulance services attended, but sadly the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Inspector Keith Warhurst of road policing, said: "We're appealing to anyone who might have witnessed the black Audi A5 or orange Toyota Aygo shortly before the crash, as well as those who might have dash cam footage."

Police are asking anyone with information to come forward by contacting them on 101 quoting incident number 2917 of September 28.
