Tonico Lemos Auad

A new exhibition by Brazilian artist Tonico Lemos Auad opens at CAMPLE LINE gallery in Dumfries this week. This exhibition is the first solo presentation of Auad’s work in Scotland.Working with reclaimed beams of oak, Douglas fir and Baltic pine Auad, has suspended them across two levels in the gallery to create a giant visual loom for visitors to walk between.

Seeing the Invisible

This new exhibition at the Edinburgh Botanic Gardens is viewed completely in Augmented Reality. Visitors will engage with the works via an app designed for the exhibition downloadable to smartphones and tablets. This is the first exhibition of its kind to be developed as a collaboration among botanical gardens around the world.

Northern Lights Festival

This brand-new arts festival, produced by Lyth Arts Centre, celebrates the stunning Wick Harbour and Caithness Coastline in the far north of Scotland. The festival blends together film screenings, exhibitions, performances, talks and a showcase on local, sustainable food alongside a free series of outdoor projections, running throughout the event.

Stumbling Block

Jessica Ramm presents her latest exhibition in the form of a series of prints that evidence everyday magic. Her chemical and physical experiments explore alternative ways of navigating humanity’s symbiotic relationship with the material environment, paying particular attention to the extravagance of human aspiration. Together with the print works on show, there is a series of sculptures questioning immutable molecular structures.

St Andrews Voices

Scotland’s singing festival will be bringing a breath of fresh air and choral music to the Fife town this month. Themes of pilgrimage and journey will be at the heart of the event and will celebrate the process and voyage singers and musicians undertake to come together, explore and share music. St Andrews Voices will showcase some of the finest singers from across the UK and beyond alongside a series of free workshops.

Scottish International Storytelling Festival Opening Concert

Roch the Wind concert will be kicking off the Scottish International Storytelling Festival this month. The show is a feminine meditation of Hamish Henderson’s iconic Freedom Come A’ Ye, and fuses music, words and imagery.

We Found Our Own Reality

The exhibition from Paul Purgas brings together architecture, textiles and sound to explore India’s first electronic music studio. The project explores the technological and experimental ambition of the studio across its four-year lifespan. To celebrate the closing of the exhibition at Tramway, Nabihah Iqbal will Join Paul Purgas for a session of live musical improvisation.

Arthur’s Seat Volcano Trail

Discover Edinburgh’s volcano during a walk in Holyrood Park. Learn about the 340 million year history of Arthur’s Seat as well as how climate change may change this landscape in the future. During the event, geologists will interpret the landscape and explain the geology which creates this unique feature in the heart of the city.
