Craig Gordon 6
No chance with Zahavi’s free-kick for the opener and desperately unlucky with the second after shocking defending. Did well with a strong save from a Zahavi header in the second half.
Andy Robertson 7
All you’d expect from the skipper, plenty of effort and quality. Did brilliantly well to play in to McGinn for equaliser and continued impressive interchange with Tierney all night.
Kieran Tierney 8
The second half was possibly 45 of his bes tminutes for Scotland. Tremendous output from the defender who played most of the second period as a second left wing-back. Delivered the perfect cross for Dykes to level after the break.
Scott McTominay 7
Thrown in at the back for the suspended Grant Hanley. Struggled a little in the first half but stepped out confidently in the second half before bundling home the crucial winner in added time.
Jack Hendry 6
Was caught out by the clever Zahavi in the opening period before improving as the match wore on. Not his best outing but got the all-important flick on for McTominay to hit the winner.
Nathan Patterson 7
Another who endured a tough first half and struggled to hold onto the ball. But he responded with an excellent second half. Desperate to drive down the right and send crosses into the box.
John McGinn 8
No less than what is now expected of Villa man. Tireless in the middle and showed his class with a curling finish in the first half. Gave everything all night and drove the team onto success.
Billy Gilmour 8
Another top quality shift from the midfield maestro. Brave to win the penalty in the first half before putting on a clinic in midfield play in the second period. Always available and purposeful with his passing.
Callum McGregor 7
Cool, composed and always ready to throw himself into the mix in midfield. Bypassed a little in the first half but superb after the break in pinning back Israel and dominating proceedings.
Lyndon Dykes 7
A mixed night for Dykes, but he won’t care. Always a handful but a missed penalty could’ve ruined his night. Came out in the second half and dragged Scotland back into game with excellent finish but could’ve had a third.
Che Adams 6
Did his best to partner Dykes and chase down any balls in the channels. Could maybe have done better with a chance in the first minute but a constant willing runner at Hampden.
Ryan Christie (for Adams, 68) 4
Teed up McGinn late on with a superb cross, but Marciano did well to save.
Liam Cooper (for Gilmour, 90) N/A
On for the final few minutes.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
