POLICE are investigating claims of spiking incidents involving injections in nighclubs across the country.

The investigation comes amid claims from a number of women on social media that they have been spiked during nights out across SCotland.

Some have claimed to have been spiked ‘by injection’ and have said that they noticed red marks ‘like an injection site’ following nights out.

Police are following a number of lines of inquiry in the Edinburgh, Dundee and Glasgow areas but do not believe the incidents to be linked.

They have asked that anyone who believes that they have been spiked to contact the police via 101 to report it.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We are aware of posts circulating on social media about spiking incidents involving injections in Scotland.

"Officers are carrying out enquiries, and a small number of reports from the Edinburgh, Dundee and Glasgow areas are being investigated.

"These do not appear to be linked.

"We take all reports seriously and we would encourage anyone who believes they have been a victim of spiking in any form to contact Police via 101.”
