Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum will close from today due to COP26, the global climate summit hosted by Glasgow in November. 

It is just one of a number of Glasgow Life venues to close during the conference. 

COP26 will see thousands of delegates and heads of state descend on the city to discuss climate goals for the next ten years.

Due to last 12-days, road closures and strike action are likely to cause delays for those travelling in and out of the city.

When is the Kelvingrove Art gallery and Museum closing?

The Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is closed from 5pm on Wednesday October 27, and will remain closed until 10am on Monday November 15. 

No access will be possible between Thursday October 28 and Sunday November 14.

Why is the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum closing?

According to the Glasgow Life website, "a small number of Glasgow Life venues will close temporarily" in order "to support the delivery of COP26."

They added: "This includes Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Musuem and we’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause."

Which roads will close for COP26?

A number of roads will close during COP26 which is expected to cause travel disruption in Glasgow. 

Congress Road - Closed October 10 to November 17: As expected the first road to close will be the one directly outside the SECC and Hydro, where the majority of talks will take place, and it will re-open at 6am on November 17.

Congress Way: Partial closures with lane restrictions will begin on October 17 ad the full road closure will begin from 9pm on Sunday October 24. It will re-open November 21 in the morning.

Clydeside Expressway – Partick Interchange to Anderston (Junction 19): The major dual carriageway will cause major disruption to commuters as the road is set to be closed from October 23, but it reopens earlier than others on November 15.

Clyde Arc and Lancefield Quay: Road closed from October 23 to November 15

Minerva Street – West Greenhill Place: Road Closed from October 28 to November 13.
