MORE than 2,300 new cases of Coronavirus and 25 deaths have been reported over night. 

According to the latest Scottish Government figures, a total of 2,389 fresh cases have been confirmed. 

It pushes the total number of positive cases recorded in Scotland since the beginning of the pandemic to 656,497.

With today's figures included, the total death toll according to the measure used by the Scottish Government stands at 9,267.

Separate figures produced by National Records of Scotland (NRS) which record the number of deaths where Covid was mentioned on a death certificate, put the figure at 11,672 as of October 31.

NRS figures include deaths where “suspected” or “probable” Covid-19 appears on the death certificate.

Of the 30,341 new tests for Covid-19 carried out which reported results in the past 24 hours – 8.3 per cent were positive.

A total of 59 people are currently being treated in intensive care with a confirmed case of Covid-19, with 841 in hospital overall.

The total number of first vaccinations given is 4,319,877 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination and 3,912,518 have received their second dose.
