Thousands of email users across the UK are having trouble accessing Gmail this morning.

The popular email site, run by Google, began experiencing issues at around 8.30am today, and thousands of problems are still being reported.

Outage tracker DownDetector shows that up to 2,700 people reported problems, with many struggling with server connection and sending emails.

HeraldScotland:

Many users reported seeing a 502 error when trying to access their emails, with the screen displaying an error message: "The server encountered a temporary error and could not complete your request."

It is not yet known what caused the outage, however it appears that it may be on the mend.
