SCOTTISH Rugby have appointed Julian Momen, the former head of Carlsberg UK, as the organisation’s chief commercial officer. The 58-year-old will oversee Murrayfield’s commercial, ticketing and marketing functions, answering directly to chief executive Mark Dodson.

While Momen is taking over some of the key roles which previously fell within Dominic McKay’s remit, this is a newly created position so he is not a direct replacement for the former chief operating officer.

“Rugby both in the UK and internationally has emerged from the Covid pandemic with a number of exciting new business and sporting opportunities which will transform the sport in the coming years,” said Dodson.

“We are therefore delighted to welcome Julian to our senior executive team and the experience he will bring in managing change, developing business models and ensuring Scottish Rugby continues to be a commercially attractive brand for its partners to enable investment throughout the Scottish game.”

Momen will start in his new post in early January 2022.
