A MAN has been arrested in connection with the assault of Aberdeen footballer Funso Ojo during a Scottish Premiership game.

North East Police has revealed that following an incident during Aberdeen's match against Dundee United on Saturday afternoon, a 35-year-old has been arrested and charged.

A statment read: "After an investigation into an incident during the Dundee United and Aberdeen match in Dundee yesterday, a 35yo man has been arrested and charged in connection with the assault of an Aberdeen FC player.

"He has been released on undertaking to appear at Dundee SC at a later date."

The incident occured when the 30-year-old Belgian came close to Dundee United supporters after his momentum took him off the pitch.

He was then allegedly pushed by the Dundee United supporter, but the Aberdeen player was then sent off by referee Bobby Madden.
