PRINCE Andrew is the patron of hundreds of charities and organisations but those affiliations are now under the microscope after he was accused of sexual assault in a civil case in America.

In Scotland, the Duke of York has connections to many military organisations and charities due to his 22-year service in the Royal Navy, as well as historic golf clubs which he has taken an interest in.

Buckingham Palace announced on Thursday Prince Andrew's military affiliations and royal patronages have been returned to the Queen and he will not continue to perform any public duties.

This means he will not use His Royal Highness title in any official capacity.

Prince Andrew is facing allegations of sexual assault in a civil case in the US, brought by his accuser Virginia Giuffre. He denies all allegations.

Following the news, multiple organisations will now have to consider whether they will strip Prince Andrew of his title with them.
