Mr WA Elliott QC visits the bridge in December 1970
WA Elliott QC, the Reporter who presided over a public inquiry into objections into proposed tolls for the Erskine Bridge, visited the bridge in December 1970 and found that toll-booths had already been installed, before he had completed his report.
The Scottish Development Department said that the toll-booths would have been installed anyway but that if Mr Elliott recommended against tolls, they could lie empty.
