OUTLANDER fans in the UK will have to pay for an extra subscription to watch the latest season of the historical drama show while those in France can watch on Netflix the day after.

It was confirmed by Outlander production company Sony that Netflix in France will have the premiere episode of season six on March 7, a day after it premieres on Starz.

All five current seasons of the show based in historic Scotland are also available to view on Netflix in France.

Fans in the UK were previously able to watch Outlander with an Amazon Prime Video subscription but they will now need to pay an extra £4.99 per month to watch the new series through the StarzPlay app.

The app is also available on Virgin TV and there is a 30-day free trial of StarzPlay available on Amazon, but this will be charged at the regular monthly rate after that period.

Outlander stars Scottish actor Sam Heughan and Irish actress Caitriona Balfe in the lead roles of the historic fantasy series based on an ongoing novel series of the same name, written by Diana Gabaldon.

The show first premiered in August 2014 on Starz and the upcoming sixth season will consist of eight episodes and premieres for the first time on March 6.
