POLICE have locked down a street in Bellshill as their investigation continues into the unexplained death of a man. 

We previously reported police had taped off part of Thorndean Avenue after a man was found injured inside a property. 

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 11.30pm last night and the 56-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. 

His death is being treated as unexplained and an investigation is ongoing.

Today, uniformed police and forensics officers have been pictured on the street as enquiries continue to establish the cause of the man's death. 

Sections of Thorndean Avenue have been taped off while police officers stand guard along the street and a road closed sign is in place. 

A number of forensics officers have been pictured around a house, with one seen leaving the property carrying a bag.

A blue tent has also been erected outside.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of a 56-year-old man who was found injured at a property in Thorndean Avenue, Bellshill, around 11.30pm on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.

"Emergency services attended and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are at an early stage."
