Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson has praised the 'clean plan' that new boss Michael Beale will bring  to the club.

The 42-year-old was officially unveiled as the 18th manager in the Ibrox club's history earlier today.

He takes over from Giovanni van Bronchhorst who was sacked after a poor run of recent results.

In a statement on the official club website, Wilson said: “I am pleased to welcome Michael back to Rangers today.

"I know how excited he is about everything that comes with the prestige of being Rangers manager.

"Equally our players and staff at both the training ground and at Ibrox are looking forward to working with Michael.

"He has a clear plan and will get to work with the group straight away along with the technical and support staff.

“Finally, this is a coveted managerial position and after an intense week of discussions, I wish to extend our sincere thanks to all of the excellent managers who we met to discuss the role.”

Wilson and Beale know each other well after working under former manager Steven Gerrard's regime.

They were both part of the staff that led the Light Blues to their historic 55th league title during the 2020-21 season.

The new boss will now have a period of time to prepare for his first match as Rangers manager, which is against Hibernian on Thursday, December 15.
