New Rangers manager Michael Beale has revealed he has the support of former Ibrox boss Steven Gerrard.

The two worked together during the ex-Liverpool captain's spell in charge of the club, with Beale serving as first team coach.

And the Englishman has revealed that he still keeps in regular contact with his former boss, as well as assistant manager at the time Gary McCallister.

Speaking during his first press conference since being appointed the 18th manager in the Light Blues' history, he said: "When I stood beside him (Gerrard) and Gary for 193 games, I noticed a few things that made me think.

"It is certain to say we had a few bumps in the road, which Steven mentioned here in 2018.

"There certainly were plenty of those but there were highs as well.

"We built a really strong squad with Ross and the recruitment team.

"Behind the scenes, we created and developed a lot of Ibrox and the training ground.

"The training ground is fantastic and being back in it over the last few days, I can see it has kicked up another notch.

"The work we have done behind the scenes is fantastic.

"We have missed each other in terms of messages and that, but we go back and forth all the time.

"I know I have his support and Gary's as well as the staff that are here.

"I lived a fantastic journey with these guys and I know I look forward to doing the same with this management team."

Revealed just before the press conference was the fact that the Englishman had recruited Jack Ade to join as Head of Performance.

Ade signs at Ibrox from Liverpool where he carried out role of Head of Elite Fitness Development and under-21 fitness coach.

He joins Damian Matthew, Neil Banfield and Harry Watling in teaming up with Beale in Glasgow.

A club statement reads: "Rangers have made a further addition to the first-team support staff with Jack Ade joining from Liverpool as Head of Performance.

Ade had been performing the role of Head of Elite Fitness Development and under-21 fitness coach at the Merseyside club, while he also has previous experience at Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Barnet and Watford.

"He joins assistant coaches, Damian Matthew and Neil Banfield, and first-team development coach, Harry Watling who have been appointed to Michael Beale’s staff thus far."
