Peter Haring will leave Heart of Midlothian at the end of the season, the club have confirmed.

The Austrian will exit alongside Andy Halliday and Michael McGovern following the expiry of their contracts at Tynecastle Park.

Haring joined ahead of the 2018/19 season and was originally viewed as a centre-back before quickly becoming a key figure at the base of the team's midfield.

While a popular figure at the club, amongst staff, team mates and fans, he has not played as many games as he would have liked due to injuries. He missed the entire 2019/20 season, a huge miss as the team finished bottom of the league, and has made 30 appearances across the past two seasons combined.

Fans will get to show their appreciation to Haring who played in three Scottish Cup finals and helped the team qualify for Europe three times after Saturday's match against Rangers.

"Each of the departing players have been excellent servants to the club and will move on to the next stage in their careers with the best wishes and thanks of everyone at Hearts," a statement said.

"Peter Haring, of course, is held in deep affection following his six years at Tynecastle; helping the men in maroon to the Scottish Cup final in 2019, our promotion campaign in 2021 and as the club secured two third place finishes in 2021/22 and 2023/24.

"Supporters will have the chance to pay tribute to the departing players following Saturday’s cinch Premiership match with Rangers, as well as celebrate the end to a fantastic season which has seen the club clinch third place in the table, European football for the third season in a row for the first time ever, and guaranteed group stage European football.

"At full time the first team and coaching staff will head into the dressing room before returning shortly after to form a guard of honour for the departing players. The squad and coaching staff will then partake in a lap of honour, heading left in the direction of the Main Stand/Gorgie Stand and then making their way around the pitch.

"This is an opportunity for fans and players to show their appreciation of each other and we encourage supporters to remain inside the stadium at full time to take part."

Halliday left the club in January to join Motherwell and will move permanently to Fir Park in the summer, while McGovern has not made an appearance for the club this season and spent time on loan at Livingston.

Beni Baningime is also out of contract at the end of the season but he has not been mentioned in the club's update. Steven Naismith said he was "optimistic" the midfielder would extend his stay at Tynecastle Park.

"I can understand where he is at, where he wants to go, why he wants to take time to think about it," Naismith said. "I'm optimistic. Any conversation I've had with him, what he wants in this short-to-medium term we can give him. I also understand he wants to get to as high as he can.

"I've been comfortable with the whole thing all along. The conversations we've had have been good. I've got real hope that he will sign and with him saying that hopefully, it will be sooner rather than later."
