Two owners of an English dairy company who are travelling from Devon to the Orkney Islands in a Tuk Tuk have finally reached Scotland.

David Evans and Kevin Beer, founders of Millbrook Dairy, a fast-growing cheese and butter business based in Bideford, Devon, hope to complete the 800-mile challenge in nine days.

The duo are celebrating five years since the founding of the company, and they are raising funds for BBC Children in Need in the process, so far amassing £18,640 of their £25,000 target.

During the journey behind the wheel of the Tuk Tuk which is sporting a giant wedge of cheese on the roof, David and Kevin are aiming to visit 29 cheesemakers and dairy farmers along the way.

This week they visited a Stranraer Creamery (part of Lactalis) in Scotland. David and Kevin met the owners of each producer along with some of their team and enjoyed the opportunity to taste and grade their cheese.

Kevin, who also acts as Director at Millbrook Dairy Company said: ““It’s our fifth birthday this year, and we wanted to do something different where we can give back to society – hence our crazy Tuk-Tuk idea is now happening.

“Our Tuk-Tuk is easily recognisable.  As well as raising money for BBC Children In Need, we are keen to have some fun with this and so we’d love people to get involved and share their photos on our social media if they spot the Tuk-Tuk.

“As well as raising money for a fantastic cause, we are sampling some amazing cheeses along the way too from the very best of UK producers.  We are loving every moment, although it has made us appreciate the comfort, we all take for granted in our normal vehicles!”.

The Tuk Tuk David and Kevin are travelling in is completing upwards of 200 miles per day, and yesterday it reached Gleneagles in Perth and Kinross.
