Rails lines have re-opened after a person died on the railway near a busy station.

Emergency services were called in to deal with the incident on the line between Motherwell and Lanark, which disrupted the morning commute in the Central Belt.

All rail lines were closed between the two towns, with replacement bus services put in place. These services will accept train tickets at no extra cost.

It is understood the lines have now reopened.

Lines were closed just after 7am while emergency services attended the incident, with travellers heading to work facing disruption around 8:30am.

Scotrail said that low-level trains were still arriving at Motherwell.
