THE father of S Club 7 star Paul Cattermole admitted having sex twice with a 14-year-old girl at St Albans Crown Court on Wednesday, January 2.

Gerald Cattermole, 51, of Artisan Crescent, St Albans, also pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting another 14-year-old girl on two occasions.

Cattermole, wearing glasses and a dark red sweatshirt, had his head bowed in court as his barrister Maryam Syed addressed the judge.

Mr Syed said: "There is media interest in this case. The defendant is very concerned about the distress caused to the victim's family and his own family. He is very keen to be sentenced."

However, Judge Seddon Cripps adjourned sentencing for reports.

Cattermole pleaded guilty to two charges of sexual intercourse with a girl aged under 16. He denied indecently assaulting her but pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting the second girl.

Prosecutor Adam Crooks said the pleas were acceptable and did not go into the facts of the case.

The offences all took place between October 17 and 20 last year.

Cattermole's 24-year-old son Paul was not in court.
