PUPILS from Dyson Perrins, Malvern, have been showing off their musical talents in a school music competition.

House groups competed in solo and ensemble categories with an overwhelming response.

Pupils earned one house point for entering, five for reaching the final and 10 for winning their category.

The winners also received HMV vouchers.

Helen Davis, head of music, said: “The competition is now in its fourth year and the standard of the acts has continued to rise. I can’t stress enough how difficult making the final decision was with so many deserving acts.”

The winners were: Lower school solo: Kelly Williams, year nine, playing acoustic guitar and singing My Heart by Paramore.

Lower school ensemble: Matt Robertson, drums, Joe Whaler and Tao Wilkins, both on electric guitar, year nine, performing Dammit by Blink182.

Upper school solo: Charlotte Ellis, year 11, performing I Giorni by Ludovico Eindaudi on the piano.

Upper school ensemble: Leah Henney and Lily Miller performing a vocal duet of Put Your Records On by Corinne Bailey Rae.

Sixth Form category: James Godfrey, year 13, performing Axel F from Beverly Hills Cop using synths and a drum machine.
