A CalMac ferry service has been cancelled after a passenger disturbance.

The ferry operator confirmed on social media this evening that the 7.20pm service from Gourock to Dunoon, and the subsequent 7.50pm return journey, have been cancelled.

They say police were called to Dunoon Pier following a 'disturbance'.

Service is expected to resume at 8.20pm from Gourock.

The CalMac statement reads: "#Gourock #Dunoon 16Oct Due to a passenger disturbance at Dunoon Pier resulting in police having to be called, the 19:20 from Gourock and 19:50 from Dunoon have been cancelled.

"Service is expected to resume at 20:20 from Gourock."

A police spokeswoman told The Herald: “Police were called to Dunoon Pier around 6.55pm on Saturday, October 16, following a report of a disturbance.

"On arrival, no criminality was established.”
