Parsley Box is set to send thousands of meals from Edinburgh to support refugees from Ukraine.
The family-run company has secured air freight on Saturday, March 12 to deliver thousands of meals donated by customers with each one being matched by the Edinburgh-based business.
Edinburgh has particularly close ties with Ukraine since the city is twinned with Kyiv which is currently suffering from constant Russian attacks.
Parsley Box's accountant, Yulia Thomson, is supporting friends and family in her home country of Ukraine by helping send out the ready meal donations to refugees.
The meal delivery service set up a campaign this week to try and help those worst affected and customers have been generous in offering to Pledge a Meal for the crisis.
‘"I want to do as much as I can by utilizing my knowledge of the languages and background involved in this crisis," Yulia commented.
She added: "I just want to do what I can and help the company do what they can. This is the most appalling situation. Ukraine is a very important country for so many reasons as it has high reserves of minerals, can meet the food needs of 600m people and has one of the largest natural gas pipelines in the world."
How to donate to Parsley Box's Pledge A Meal campaign
The crates of food will be taken out at the weekend thanks to the company's partnership with a Romanian charity.
The meals can easily be heated to provide hot, fresh, and nutritious meals for those who have had to flee their homes.

"Through a partnership with one Romanian and one Ukrainian charity, we have secured space on a cargo plane on a humanitarian mission, leaving Stansted on the 12th of March to deliver meals to refugees on the Ukrainian borders, " Parsley Box's CEO, Kevin Dorren said.
If you place your order before March 9 and pledge a meal to the cause for just £3.99, the company will match it.
Parsley Box has said that it is possible the campaign will continue so long as it gains access to suitable transport.
For more information and to make your donation, visit Parsley Box's website.
If you do not want to place an order on his occasion, the company encouraged you to make a donation directly to the UNICEF's Ukraine humanitarian assistance charity at www.unicef.org/ukraine/en.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
