Superdrug and Beauty Banks have teamed up to launch the Buy One, Bank One scheme.

The scheme has been set up to encourage donations of personal care products such as toothpaste and shower gel.

Until June 14, the scheme will see Superdrug support Beauty Banks by donating hundreds of units of the most requested hygiene products needed by the charity.

When Superdrug customers buy one of these three products – Pro Care Gum Care Toothpaste (£1.99), Superdrug Charcoal Toothbrush - Black (£1.24, down from £2.49) or Fruity Lime & Ginger Shower Gel (£1.79), the retailer will donate the same item to Beauty Banks.

Beauty Banks co-founder Jo Jones said: “As hygiene poverty rises, so does our urgent need for donations. With more and more people relying on these donations, Superdrug’s Buy One, Bank One campaign will mean that hundreds of essential products will reach those most in need.

“We’re so thankful to Superdrug for their continued support in helping to ensure that everyone has access to the essential personal care products to which we all share a basic human right.”

Simon Comins, Chief Commercial Officer at Superdrug, said: “We are so proud to be donating to Beauty Banks through our Buy One, Bank One campaign. Through our four-year partnership with Beauty Banks, we have seen the invaluable work the team do and the impact these donations make.

“Over the years, together with our customers, we have donated hundreds of products to those experiencing hygiene poverty. Customers can find donation bins in over 100 stores nationwide and we’d encourage anyone that can, to take part in our Buy One, Bank One campaign this month.”

Beauty Banks hopes to eradicate hygiene poverty in the UK and it supports people living in poverty by providing personal care products and hygiene essentials to those who can’t afford them.

In 2020 it introduced more than 100 donation points nationwide to improve access to local charities and people in need across the UK.
