Professor Gregor Gall is correct to highlight the negative impact which resulted from the removal of the socialist voice from Holyrood and the setback suffered by the Scottish working class in not having the representatives it needed (After 10 years, reflections on the damage to the left caused by SSP collapse, Comment, November 16).

However, if the Scottish Socialist Party were sunk, as he infers, how could we have played the widely respected role we did in Yes Scotland and the Radical Independence Campaign?

The SSP emerged with a greatly increased membership, influence and support, and our activists are working with renewed vigour.
