SOUTH Ayrshire Council astonishingly persists in referring to the rather fine B-listed 19th century Ayr Station Hotel only as “the building adjacent to the railway station” in its social media, no doubt in the hope that this odd “rebranding” will cause collective amnesia amongst honest men and bonny lassies and free the philistines to demolish ever more of the town’s half-decent Georgian and Victorian townscape. Town Hall propaganda on the rates more akin to 1984 than 2019. Is that OK?
