GRAEME McGarry writes an excellent article ("High ticket prices could prove costly for clubs", Herald Sport, September 6) on the much-neglected topic (by football media and pundits alike) of the cost of attending Scottish football matches.

Can the "stoic hardcore" fans fight back against this increasing expense? Probably not. However, Graeme might be interested to know that at a recent Betfred match between my team Alloa (home) against Stirling Albion, on a Tuesday evening, the Stirling directors refused their free seats in the Director's Box in protest at the walk-up price of £18 fans were asked to pay. Those who did stay for the match paid their money and sat with their fans. A pyrrhic victory, I think.
