READING the letter (January 9) from William Douglas about being able to get his luggage to his boarding school in advance reminded me that way back you could get a hamper (in those days) uplifted and delivered to your holiday destination. Ours got transported to Millport from Glasgow, then later it was a packed pram full of bedding etc that was transported to Arran in advance, usually along with a trunk. Now cars are loaded and unless it's your own property you're going to, linen and the like is provided in holiday lets these days.

I don't see the offer for taking cases coming back into fashion.
