The Herald on Sunday is celebrating having been crowned UK Sunday Newspaper of the Year in a prestigious media awards ceremony.

Held virtually, the UK Regional Press Awards this year tipped the hat to the efforts of journalists and media during the unprecedented challenges of 2020.

The Regional Press Awards are made possible due the support of headline sponsor Facebook Journalism ProjectCamelot, a supporter since 2001; Google News Initiative; AmazonHoldTheFrontPage; the News Media Association and the Journalists’ Charity.

In addition to scooping the top award, reporter Martin Williams was named Business & Finance Journalist of the year, with his stories appearing in both The Herald on Sunday and The Herald, while Teddy Jamieson’s work earned him the award for Feature Writer/Long Form Journalist of the Year.

Neil Mackay was highly commended in the Columnist of the Year category, while Jack Aitchison, of our stablemate the Glasgow Times, was also highly commended in the Young Journalist of the Year category.

And in the Reporting Communities segment, Catriona Stewart was highly commended as well.

The Herald Magazine was highly commended in the Magazine of the Year category and the Glasgow Times' digital team received the same recognition in the Social Media Team of the Year sector.
