Nicola Sturgeon will update the Scottish Parliament on the Covid crisis in Scotland today.

The First Minister is due to face MSPs and lay out the next steps dealing with the pandemic.

It is not expected that any fresh restrictions will be annonced, with new lockdowns recently ruled out.

Cases of Covid have been declining in recent days as the latest wave of the virus appears to be receding.

The Herald:

Ms Sturgeon has previously outlined the Scottish Government's plan to bring in vaccine passports for nightclubs and large events to allow entry to people who can show they have had two doses of a Covid vaccine.

The scheme is seen as a way of allowing events to go ahead despite surging cases of Covid-19, avoid re-imposing wider restrictions, and encouraging the uptake of the vaccine in younger people.
