SCOTLAND’S Finance and Economy Secretary is self-isolating after testing positive for Covid-19.

Kate Forbes, SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch was unable to take part in Holyrood’s Economy and Fair Work Committee in person on Wednesday morning, instead appearing remotely to give evidence on the economic recovery from the pandemic.

A spokesperson for the Finance and Economy Secretary confirmed Ms Forbes is self isolating in line with government guidance after testing positive for the virus.

Ms Forbes said she is experiencing "cold-like symptoms".

Speaking remotely to MSPs this morning, Ms Forbes, who is fully vaccinated, said: “Can I apologise at the outset for not being able to join you in person.

“I can assure you that only Covid would keep me from the committee’s scrutiny in person and I’m sure the committee is quite relieved that I am not with you in person this morning.”

Ms Forbes was last at Holyrood in person on Thursday, September 16.

Writing on Twitter, Ms Forbes said: "I can confirm I’ve tested positive for Covid-19 and I’m self-isolating at home.

"Fortunately (or unfortunately!) hybrid working allows me to still appear in Parliament virtually.

"The cold-like symptoms aren’t fun but I’m incredibly relieved to be double vaccinated."

On August 30, Ms Forbes announced she was self-isolating after “a family member tested positive” and was quarantining as it had happened less than two weeks since she received her second dose of the vaccine, so was not fully protected.
