THE SNP’s leader at Westminster, Ian Blackford MP, became the most senior figure in the party today to address a Yes movement rally since Nicola Sturgeon in 2019. 

Mr Blackford led the march with his wife Ann in Glasgow before addressing the crowd in the city centre on Saturday.

The march attracted around 600-700 participants, organisers Yes2indee said.  

It started at Kelvin Way and went through the city centre to MacLennan Arch at Glasgow Green, which was the rallying point for speeches.

It was Yes2indee’s first major public march.

Organiser Gary Kelly said: “I was delighted by the march and the fact that Ian Blackford joined was even better - his involvement was well received. 

"Getting Ian to speak was an achievement on its own. 

"Politicians are wanting to work with the Yes movement and there seems to be an an olive branch approach.

"We are a grassroots, non-party affliated group but we can do out thing on the streets and it helps them with campaigning."

The march was accompanied with of some pipers and drummers, and the Yes Bikers formed a guard of honour for the marchers.

Mr Kelly added: "It was a great atmosphere because the Tartan Army was out too and we were well received by them and the public in the city centre."
