ALLY McCOIST has confirmed that Ipswich Town have made an offer for Maurice Edu.

The American, who returned to training yesterday, has not played this season after making it clear he wants to leave Rangers and McCoist would like to see the matter dealt with swiftly.

"As far as I know, there is an offer on the table from Ipswich which, as yet, he hasn't accepted," said the manager. "I'm just hopeful something can be resolved sooner rather than later."

McCoist is hopeful of recruiting Sebastien Faure on a free transfer. The French defender has been on trial since last week and the club were due to meet with his agent yesterday for signing talks. Faure, a former France under-20 internationalist, has been without a club since leaving Olympique Lyonnais in the summer and had a spell on trial early this year with Leeds United.

Franceso Stella, Anestis Argirous and Francesco Celeste and Rouven Sattelmaier, the other trialists, could all feature in a bounce game later in the week as McCoist looks to augment his squad before the start of a year-long transfer embargo on September 1.

"We're hopefully going to have talk with Sebastien's agent," he added. "Nothing's been agreed yet but we'd like to take that forward. The other lads we are monitoring. Some of the boys have looked good and I'm trying to arrange another bounce game for them in the middle of the week. We're still hopeful of getting some other faces in as well."
