COMEBACK kid Judd Trump grounded the Rocket to claim the inaugural 888.com World Grand Prix title.

Having trailed 7-4 the 'Juddernaut' smashed in six frames in a row to stun Ronnie O'Sullivan 10-7 and pocket the £100,000 top prize.

It was the first time the Bristolian had beaten his opponent in a major final, and the 25-year-old described it as a "huge win".

"I'm over the moon," said a delighted Trump. "Every time I play Ronnie there's so much more pressure than when you play someone else. It's only when I go behind I can relax and get into it."

After Trump had taken the opening frame, the Rocket fired into life, sealing the next four with top runs of 96, 56 and 105 - his first century of the tournament.

Trump bounced back with a hat-trick of successive frames, two breaks of 50 either side of a 46 enough to level the session with one to play.

The five-time World Champion struck back to sink 89 and take a narrow 5-4 lead into the concluding session.

An opening break of 96 saw O'Sullivan fly out of the blocks in the evening, and he took the next to further widen his advantage.

But the 25-year-old stunned O'Sullivan by sealing six frames on the spin to claim the crown, including a terrific total clearance of 142 - the highest break of the tournament.

"Tonight I played much better," added Trump. "My safety was good, but there were times when I didn't think it would happen. I'm proud of the comeback. It's a huge win."
