DUNDEE UNITED have confirmed that striker Henri Anier has left the club by mutual agreement.

The 25-year-old first moved to Tannadice in January 2015 before spending the first half of last season on loan with Hibs, but has struggled to break into the Tangerines squad.

Anier made a promising start to the new season by scoring twice from the bench in the League Cup. However, the Estonia international has now agreed to terminate his contract a year early with the Championship club.

“I have enjoyed my time here and take away many positives and would like to thank all the teammates who became my friends, coaches and management team for their professionalism," the former Motherwell forward told United's official website.

"I also thank the fans and everyone involved with the club for their support.

“I will leave to take on another challenge for me, but I will keep an eye on, and my fingers crossed for Dundee United to have a successful season and good times ahead.”
